Dark Lord Day 2015

Here it is- the official poster for Three Floyds Brewing Company's annual bacchanal extraordinaire .  The theme this year was Frederick the Great and the Seven Year's War.  Lookit up on your Wikipedia and Brittanica, it was a doozy of history.  I poured that and scenes from the battle of Rossbach into my skeleton filter and came up with this: 4 color screenprint , edition of 450, 18 x 24 signed and numbered.  Most of these went to FFF, the rest are up in the shop.

 I also printed some rad testprints along the way.  I'll be adding those to the store , a few each day.

Commissioned by the honchos at the Mighty 3 Floyds Brewing Co for this year's Dark Lord Day party.  Each year , for those of you not in the know, 3 Floyds brews up and releases for ONE DAY a very special brew known as DARK LORD.  Its delicious and inspires many around the country to come in for this annual event just over the border in Munster , IN.
The art direction received on this poster asked for Cold War era russian and american ski troops embroiled in a struggle over the Alaskan Prudhoe Bay Oil Fields.  My mind immediately went to the Eagle and the Bear Symbols, which quickly devolved into a Russian Bear and Sam the Eagle (from Muppets Fame) engaged in a stiff Karate fight.
In addition I was inspired by 1950's comics and Gary Panter's comics from the 1980s  to make it a faux 3-D looking poster, adding to the jarring beer goggles effect.

The poster is 18 x 24 inches and is a signed and numbered edition  of 650.  Most of the edition was sold at the Brewery on DLD.  I have my remaining copies for sale here in my shop.

Three Floyds XV Poster

I was hired by the most excellent folks at Three Floyd's Brewing to make a poster for their fifteenth anniversary party/beer release/day of rock music. They brewed up a combo of Dark beers from their own Dark Lord, Surly's Darkness, and brews from Mikkeller and Die Struise Brouwers. Music from the Melvins, Sweet Cobra, Municipal Waste, Young Widows, Gorch Fock and Sybaris. The poster is BIG, 24 x 24 inches, 3 colors with metallic Inks, featuring the ghost of a roman soldier enlivened by a deal with a wolf. Edition of 650, most of these were purchased by 3FFF, so here's your chance to nab one while I still have a few. Up in the shop, now!

Apocalypse Cow is back!

The gents at Three Floyds Brewing have made a 2010 edition of Apocalypse Cow, which will soon hit the stores AND taprooms with this delicious double IPA. I was happy to design the label last year and also make a screenprinted poster.
